Exhibition Hydrography

ABSTRACT EXPERIMENTAL WATERCOLOR
Hydrography is the name of a group consisting of about 25 artists from the Netherlands and abroad. Since 2013 they have been making international exhibitions in varying compositions. So this year Hydrography is 10 years old! This will be celebrated with a major exhibition in De Visserhallen in IJmuiden and the presentation of a book.

“When I work with watercolor, I am the one who creates a flow of water, color and light with a brush. So too with the work I created for the exhibition Hydrography. It consists of a number of volumes that get their shape by folding them and then fixing them with the help of a split pin. The shape and the incisions by which the works are folded into a volume are fixed. However, painting with watercolor gives each volume a unique look, from dark layer upon layer of depths to bands of light that take on a very distinct direction through the folds in the work.”
