In the monumental Johanna de Lestonnac studio building in Nijmegen, Marena Seeling and Coen Vernooij will open their studios on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.
The open studios are part of the major Vouch weekend, where Vouch artists throughout the Netherlands open their studios to the public. Vouch is the platform where people curious about discovering and buying art come into direct contact with renowned artists and their work.
You are welcome in my studio, the laboratory where observations and thoughts are filtered to find a place in my visual work in a refined form.
The Dijkhuis where I was born overlooked the river de Waal near Nijmegen. Just like my visual work, this view has undergone a major transformation in recent years with the building of new bridges, the Nevengeul, and metropolitan architecture. It is precisely these changes that cause me to keep returning to places along de Waal and find inspiration for new work.
This open weekend, I am offering my visitors a glimpse into the latest developments in my work in the form of a space-filling installation consisting of sculptures made of cardboard.
The drawer cabinet
Also, especially for this weekend, The drawer cabinet is filled with watercolors and paintings, all with a nice discount. In one of the drawers, watercolors made for the Water Colors project [2015-2016] inspired by the construction of the Nevengeul near Nijmegen. You will receive the accompanying publication as well.
